Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
